previous 8/10 next 10/10  BB 5 - 1 OMarijana (379177426)

Dark skies made the crowd of 1919 at Am Acker a little nervous, but the rain held off. Vito Lista was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Paris Ziereisen and Uwe Schüsselbuden. BB tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players took the field: Keim - Vignola, Tiefel, Thole, Westendorf - Kastrup, Ensen, Gstöttner, Cruschwitz - Broszeit, Sonner.

OMarijana had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Burgwal - Marazza, Gilić, Fiľak - Melvan, Parera, Bellucci, Beumer, Indrebø - Arcano, van der Lem.

B. van der Lem caught everyone off guard with a great opening pass - but unfortunately K. Indrebø was as surprised by the move as anybody else, and managed to miss the extraordinary opportunity. Many thought H. Thole ought to have been awarded a penalty 14 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around M. Burgwal after a determined run through the middle. BB broke through on the left 23 minutes into the game, with B. Westendorf firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. 24 minutes in, BB appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only passable. After 25 minutes, BB's B. Westendorf fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! After 32 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by M. Gstöttner might have resulted in another goal for BB. However, M. Burgwal made a spectacular save. After 33 minutes, OMarijana were awarded a free kick as their counter attack broke down. The set piece was lifted over the top, intended to open up the defence. However, the target man seemed to be taken by surprise, and could not reach the ball before it crossed the line for a goal kick. R. Broszeit had a fantastic opportunity to put BB up another goal 34 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by BB, with 60 percent of the ball.

A review of the gameplan helped BB get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. The head of C. Vignola connected with a corner kick after 49 minutes, and the ball ended up with R. Broszeit of BB who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 2 - 0. The suddenness of the BB's R. Broszeit's pass to M. Sonner after 63 minutes caught the opposition wrong-footed, and they could only watch as the ball sailed home for 3 - 0. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in BB's R. Broszeit increasing the lead to 4 - 0. After this, you could see that the players of BB were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. The referee showed BB's M. Gstöttner the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. OMarijana fans were dismayed when it was apparent no substitutes remained after G. Arcano's injury. The visitors got one back when J. Fiľak finished off a pass from the left and scored after 87 minutes. 4 - 1 was the score. 88 minutes into the game, BB seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to solid. After 88 minutes, BB were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. R. Broszeit did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. Given a free kick close to the byline, BB tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let H. Thole slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 5 - 1, 89 minutes into the game. BB had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.

BB's best player was E. Keim. On the other hand, S. Ensen's play was disheartening. B. van der Lem performed admirably for OMarijana. However, P. Bellucci made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 5 - 1.
