Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 3144 at PSV Dresden Arena today. Francisco Osorio Zayas was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jonas Loosli and Lasse Bremseth. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Dresden. After 2 minutes of play, G. Vaillant gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. After 4 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by C. Ofterdinger might have resulted in another goal for Dresden. However, I. Ţăranu made a spectacular save. After 5 minutes, C. Sayıner sent the corner kick right to A. Jackson who headed it sharply past the keeper. 1 - 1! Making his way up the middle 19 minutes into the match, H. Freitag almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert I. Ţăranu blocked it to keep the score level. Many thought M. Jankovec ought to have been awarded a penalty 20 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around I. Ţăranu after a determined run through the middle. G. Vaillant caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 26 minutes. This gave Dresden the 2 - 1 lead. Dresden's M. Jankovec got himself booked for a foul. 2 - 1 was the halftime score. Dresden enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.

After 55 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and C. Ofterdinger gave the Dresden supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 1. E. Wauthier nearly reduced the lead 70 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by L. Heilsberg prevented the attempt coming in from the right flank from hitting the back of the net. PSV's C. Coman was shown a yellow card after 72 minutes for slicing down an opponent. With 76 minutes played, Dresden put themselves up 4 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to M. Laco, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Confident in their lead, Dresden's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Dresden's G. Vaillant increased the lead to 5 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 81 minutes. By then G. Vaillant had scored three goals - a hat trick! The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave A. Cosaşu from Dresden a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 82 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Dresden's H. Freitag increasing the lead to 6 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Dresden, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.

The most dominating Dresden player was without a doubt G. Vaillant. A. Cosaşu turned in a dismal performance, however. PSV's best player was C. Sayıner. I. Ţăranu was a disappointment, however. The match ends 6 - 1.
