(379276276)

16-05-2012 22.50
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 2795 at
Pilmaiquen stadium today.
Eddie Kulenkampff was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Erik Gunnarsson and
Jorma Falkenstad.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Meister.
They fielded: Vidić - Löffelmann, Rashid, Bisgaard Jensen - Bochien, Mascayo, Borghi, Arroyo, Grbić - Albitre, Christe.
Careas had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation.
The following players had been chosen: Bridējs - Eggflod, Poggiolesi - Tomaselli, Nannicini, Pedulli, Giostra, Cardelli - Govoni, Paulsson, Frisenda.
Today, Meister's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks.
Careas immediately set off using their skill at pressing their opponents.
It was obvious that Meister had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
After 15 minutes,
A. Albitre came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Meister the lead.
20 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 1 - 1 as
E. Giostra struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right.
Careas had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 27 minutes in when
G. Nannicini came up alone against
N. Vidić who managed a block.
Meister created a good opportunity to score 32 minutes into the match when
N. Christe's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball.
At this time in the match, Careas were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game.
After 37 minutes of play,
E. Mascayo gave the home team a 2 - 1 lead after an attack coming in from the right.
Halftime score was 2 - 1.
Possession in this half belonged to Meister, who controlled the ball 69 percent of the time.
Careas tied it all up, 57 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by
F. Govoni, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 2 - 2.
Meister's
E. Mascayo was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 63 minutes.
After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
D. Arroyo scored for Meister putting them ahead 3 - 2, after 67 minutes.
Meister put themselves up 4 - 2 when
G. Rashid broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
After this, you could see that the players of Meister were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
The coach of Meister was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 72 minutes,
F. Gallo came on for
K. Bochien.
The Meister captaincy was handed to
G. Rashid.
G. Rashid wanted to play on, but the Meister coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 80 minutes into the game by
R. Degli Esposti.
N. Vidić was the new captain of Meister - handed the armband by the departing player.
The Meister players could smell victory in the air.
D. Arroyo wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
D. Cisternas after 82 minutes.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Meister, with 74 percent of the ball.
Meister's best player was
A. Albitre.
On the other hand,
C. Bisgaard Jensen's play was disheartening.
J. Paulsson performed admirably for Careas.
U. Eggflod turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 4 - 2.
