Clouds darkened the skies at
NK Juventus Osijek Arena Prvaka as 1686 spectators turned up for the match.
Stephen Dudley-Evans was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Bo Johansson and
Cosimo Interdonato.
Juventus tactics involved an interesting 5-5-0 combination.
The following players took the field: Sjauš - Carlea, Ross, Nascimento, Chidgey, Hiilinen - Basto, Chernish, Gassmann, Brus, Uskok -.
Bar2y had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
Lineup: Länsimäki - Dănilă, Crehuet, Dörflein, Faria - Yli-Kovero, Brandão, Omaña, Weilerwist - Radinović, Castiñeiras.
Juventus immediately set off using their skill at pressing their opponents.
For their match strategy, Bar2y had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
4 minutes into the game, Bar2y seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
weak level of organisation.
After 24 minutes, Bar2y put themselves up 0 - 1, as
V. Castiñeiras finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
Juventus's
H. Hiilinen was shown a yellow card after 29 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
C. Carlea from Juventus a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 30 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
After 32 minutes,
A. Chernish sent the corner kick right to
S. Gassmann who headed it sharply past the keeper. 1 - 1!
After 37 minutes, the defensive line of Bar2y created a counterattack through the middle that gave
S. Radinović a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
1 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Juventus, with 55 percent of the ball.
The Bar2y players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a
passable organisation when the game started again.
The counterattack by Bar2y resulted in a free kick that
V. Castiñeiras bent under the crossbar - 1 - 2!
Bar2y's
F. Dörflein refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 59 minutes.
Some fine movement on the left led to a Bar2y goal after 67 minutes, making it 1 - 3.
R. Crehuet was noted down as the scorer.
Confident in their lead, Bar2y's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Juventus's
A. Basto was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 69 minutes.
After 72 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Bar2y found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
inadequate.
Bar2y's
R. Weilerwist had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 76 minutes having been played.
E. von Sonnenberg was the replacement.
Š. Sjauš got a fingertip on
S. Radinović's shot from the left 77 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
Bar2y enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.
A. Chernish performed admirably for Juventus.
Š. Sjauš turned in a dismal performance, however.
Bar2y's best player was
S. Radinović.
However,
F. Dörflein made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 3.
