Ascoli 7 - 1 Emmeln-Altharen
(379342765)

22-05-2012 19.15
2965 spectators arrived at
Del Duca Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Janne Hartwig was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Randy Mummertz and
Ole Skovsen.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Ascoli.
The following players took the field: Tinoco - Kemmler, Merciadri, Mićić - Fosi, Rebsteck, Slegers, de Moraes - Plönitz, Rinaudo, Raffaele.
Emmeln-Altharen started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Gantenberg - Guthardt, Stolero, Brolhöfer - Ther, Kıran, Hadzic, Grad, Steimer-Lenz - Imbrogno, Blaškevičius.
Emmeln-Altharen were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Ascoli tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
M. Rinaudo slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 1 - 0, 15 minutes into the game.
M. Steimer-Lenz hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving Emmeln-Altharen's
V. Grad an easy chance to knock it in for 1 - 1.
The incalculable
S. Plönitz of Ascoli did everything right as he set up
C. Fosi for a goal after 23 minutes. Unfortunately, the strike missed its target.
After 26 minutes,
G. Raffaele came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving Ascoli the lead.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
G. Rebsteck from Ascoli a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 28 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
S. Plönitz squirmed through their central defence after 29 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 1.
30 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
R. Kemmler broke through, making the score 4 - 1 for Ascoli.
By now, the players in Ascoli felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
It was 4 - 1 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to Ascoli, who controlled the ball 64 percent of the time.
Ascoli's
C. Fosi saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 51 minutes.
Proving his experience,
M. Rinaudo scored 5 - 1 for Ascoli after putting some pressure on the opposing defence at a critical moment.
Ascoli managed to extend their lead to 6 - 1 when
R. Kemmler cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
The score became 7 - 1 at 73 minutes into the game, when Ascoli were given a penalty which
G. Rebsteck blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance!
Ascoli had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.
Ascoli's top performer was clearly
G. Raffaele.
S. Mićić turned in a dismal performance, however.
Emmeln-Altharen's best player was
A. Hadzic.
T. Imbrogno was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 7 - 1.
