previous 6/10 next 8/10  SSC Zavod 1 - 4 Šanov (379352711)

Dark skies made the crowd of 4370 at SSC Zavod Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Clement Fangemann was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jens Faler and Fabrizio Camarda. SSC Zavod tactics involved an interesting 4-3-3 combination. Lineup: Topoľovský - Oravčík, Vila Luz, Klobúčnik, Klukon - Dolleris, van Lunteren, Zvozil - Tarhaj, Taškár, Angerer.

Šanov decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. The following players took the field: Odstrčil - Pozzoni, Sovala, Peeters, Ben-Zvi - Cibulka, Main, Meijer, Lund, Sikyta - Lik.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for SSC Zavod. SSC Zavod almost scored after a counterattack 9 minutes into the match, but S. Klukon took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave C. Sikyta from Šanov a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 24 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 28 minutes into the match left Šanov's T. Lund completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. T. Dolleris sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from P. Angerer after 35 minutes of play, making the score 1 - 1. After 39 minutes, Šanov put themselves up 1 - 2, as V. Pozzoni finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. After 40 minutes, Šanov sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached J. Sovala, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 3. 1 - 3 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Šanov, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.

With 50 minutes played, Šanov put themselves up 1 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was M. Meijer. Šanov claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.

The most dominating SSC Zavod player was without a doubt V. Taškár. However, M. Oravčík made a disastrous appearance. Most important Šanov player was G. Ben-Zvi. J. Sovala on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 4.
