previous 7/10 next 9/10  Barça 1 - 4 Chefens (379354407)

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 2160 to Nou Camp. Oscar Corts was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Lajos de Sadeleer and Kornelius Schodritz. Barça had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation. Starters: Gaudêncio - Camps, Schultmaister, Soffritti, Manrique, Mens - Kopiecki, Olszacki, Cierpioł - Martín, Charłampowicz.

Chefens tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. The following players took the field: Kałucki - Egedal, Radich, Boe - Doninger, Raunkjær, Umhang, Taaning - De Kimpe, Jeleń, Lizaranzu.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Barça. It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why S. Mens found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. Chefens's goal to make the score 0 - 1 came via a questionable penalty, but G. Umhang struck it home without a second thought. The referee showed Chefens's J. Taaning the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. A. Olszacki really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by G. Camps after a corner. After 39 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave G. Umhang a chance to increase the lead for Chefens, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2. 42 minutes into the match, K. Egedal came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. After 43 minutes Barça tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, W. Charłampowicz's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2. Chefens claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 70 percent.

The visitors' B. De Kimpe took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 49 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Chefens. 63 minutes in, Chefens's G. Umhang received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. W. Kopiecki stunned the crowd with a brilliant counterattack from the left, giving Barça the goal to make it 1 - 3. Barça had to manage with a reduced squad after 78 minutes, as A. Martín got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. After 79 minutes Barça's Á. Schultmaister limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. After 85 minutes, Chefens's K. Boe burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 4. Confident in their lead, Chefens's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Chefens enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 68 percent of possession.

Most important Barça player was J. Manrique. G. Camps was a disappointment, however. Chefens's top performer was clearly B. De Kimpe. On the other hand, P. Radich's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 4.
