A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Þórshamar. Starters: Leponen - Dou, Habermacher, Oustampasidis - Eschmann, Bjarkason, Kiljansson, Ísólfsson, Call - Kristbjörnsson, Obrestad.

Þórshamar used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Näpikad fans held their breath as O. Lekk scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! After 35 minutes, the visitors levelled the scores after C. Obrestad made it through the middle and struck home to make it 1 - 1. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave O. Call from Þórshamar a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 37 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Näpikad had to make a substitution after 40 minutes. K. Roloff limped off the field and was replaced by E. Blanco. Näpikad took the lead 41 minutes into the game by 2 - 1, as Y. Efkende elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Þórshamar were close to putting the equaliser away after 42 minutes as the opposing defence lost control of the ball to O. Call in a scuffle towards the left of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the dead ball line. The visitors didn't give in and, after 43 minutes, B. Kristbjörnsson got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 2 - 2. The home side put themselves ahead 3 - 2 after 44 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from G. Pistolato, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. Þórshamar's G. Bjarkason was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 44 minutes. 3 - 2 was the halftime score. Näpikad enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.

50 minutes into the game, G. Bjarkason had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came K. Friðgeirsson. Þórshamar tied it all up, 60 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by N. Kiljansson, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 3 - 3. The home keeper expected a move to the right, but C. Obrestad surprised him with a free kick aimed the other way 70 minutes into the match. 3 - 4 for Þórshamar. K. Mae made a superb strike after 77 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. 79 minutes into the game, Þórshamar were awarded a penalty and C. Obrestad was able to increase the visitors' lead to 3 - 5 rolling the ball in by the right post. By then C. Obrestad had scored three goals - a hat trick! Näpikad claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

R. Bamberg performed admirably for Näpikad. E. Blanco on the other hand, had a terrible day. Þórshamar's top performer was clearly K. Friðgeirsson. C. Obrestad turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 5.
