previous 7/10 next 9/10  SUBMARINE 4 - 0 Greve (379363290)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 2548 to Port Arena. Mikael Stensson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kris Elken and Davide De Rossi. SUBMARINE started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Starters: Ellul - Massarenti, Milić, Kalmeta, Kinkela - Janjić, Barmen, Kilijan, Lazić - Seol, Kahriman.

Greve tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. The following players took the field: Piontek - Guillaumet, Bähring - Bisgaard, Wilhelmsen, Madsen, Due, Lauth - Dabby, Andersen, Butcher.

With 7 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as N. Kalmeta flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. 17 minutes in, Greve appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only inadequate. H. Kahriman could have increased the lead after 17 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. Greve's K. Madsen's long shot really ought to have found the net 20 minutes into the match, but it fell just wide of the target. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in SUBMARINE's P. Kilijan increasing the lead to 2 - 0. After 25 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as SUBMARINE found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to passable. After 26 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Greve was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options. H. Kahriman showed why he is feared on the counterattack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for SUBMARINE after 27 minutes to make the score 3 - 0. N. Bisgaard had a couple of good opportunities to reply, but the home team's keeper S. Ellul was simply unbeatable. 3 - 0 was the halftime score. SUBMARINE had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.

During the break, SUBMARINE's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. A review of the gameplan helped Greve get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. H. Kahriman was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, SUBMARINE's V. Lazić managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 4 - 0 At this point, it was obvious that the players of SUBMARINE lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. SUBMARINE's S. Massarenti left the field after 71 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was M. Isić. The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 84 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving T. Butcher completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side's keeper. 88 minutes into the game, Greve had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to passable. 89 minutes into the game, Greve seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. SUBMARINE's M. Isić had an excellent opportunity after 89 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! R. Due nearly reduced the lead 89 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by S. Ellul prevented the attempt coming in from the right flank from hitting the back of the net. SUBMARINE claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

J. Seol performed admirably for SUBMARINE. V. Janjić turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Greve player was without a doubt T. Butcher. T. Wilhelmsen on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 0.
