previous 3/10 next 5/10  Maiora 1 - 2 Sansar (379369714)

4635 spectators arrived at Al Arabi Stadium, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Camilo Fangueiro was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rudibert Santl and Heino Kloimstein. Maiora had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Marozsán - Leisey, Tellgren, Szaradowski, Rus - Chróściński, Al-Kaleel, Vasiliu, Neustädter - Coron, Bonnot.

Sansar started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. They fielded: Giacintucci - Bora, Temuder, Dochin, Gombo - Kuzhuk, Doberg, Gutchluk, Saboya - Oğuzkan, Shria.

Sansar preferred to finish off their attacks from a distance. Sansar took the lead 25 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. R. Saboya was the scorer. 31 minutes in, and Maiora were able to score the equalising goal to make it 1 - 1 when D. Neustädter picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper. Sansar's B. Kuzhuk refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 36 minutes. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 37 minutes into the match left Sansar's G. Gutchluk completely free to score. 1 - 2 for the visitors. It might be a while before the fans see Maiora's F. Al-Kaleel again, after he had to leave the field in great distress at the 39 minute mark. He was replaced by S. Hanna. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Maiora, with 62 percent of the ball.

With 46 minutes played, the Maiora coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. J. Abraham came on, A. Bonnot had to leave the fray. Sansar's J. Temuder got himself booked for a foul. With 79 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Maiora resulted in a counterattack that set J. Abraham free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. Maiora had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

Most important Maiora player was S. Hanna. Z. Szaradowski turned in a dismal performance, however. Sansar's top performer was clearly G. Shria. On the other hand, B. Kuzhuk's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 2.
