It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 1771 that came out to IV Centenario. László Bajzát was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Vladimír Miklas and Rafael Caciara. With 14 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, M. Zelaya needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. Albiceleste could have put themselves ahead after 16 minutes but C. Clavijo missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. After 21 minutes, Sporting's J. Barturen made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from S. Cucala after 25 minutes, and prevented Sporting from going up another goal. After 31 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for R. Florit who increased Sporting's lead to 0 - 2. 0 - 2 was the score after the first half. Sporting enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

C. Clavijo didn't pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play. The home keeper was stunned 55 minutes into the match when he misjudged the free kick by R. Aubert and dived in the wrong direction. The visitors increased the lead to 0 - 3. After 57 minutes of game time, R. Aubert had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but A. Maravilha was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. With 63 minutes played, Sporting put themselves up 0 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was A. Medinilla. L. Saseta fired a shot from distance after 64 minutes, but the long shot couldn't find the net for Sporting. 72 minutes in, Sporting's A. Medinilla received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. M. Zelaya seemed highly inexperienced when, after 74 minutes, he was caught dilly-dallying with the ball and allowed L. Saseta to intercept and strike home the goal for Sporting to make the score 0 - 5. Confident in their lead, Sporting's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave M. Zelaya from Albiceleste a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 78 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Sporting, with 58 percent of the ball.

Albiceleste's top performer was clearly 啓. 杉山 (Sugiyama). However, D. Urdininea made a disastrous appearance. Sporting's best player was H. Valerio. R. Aubert turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 5.
