Dark skies made the crowd of 4134 at Zorn Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Carl Henrik Sejersen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Huub Baremans and Lars Kihler. Going for long shots seemed to be the strategy in use by LemmaVonZorn. 0 - 1 was the score with 5 minutes played, after D. Figge cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Linke. After 9 minutes LemmaVonZorn showed some great patience outside the penalty area, waiting until F. Bogensperger could find the right opportunity to finish off the attack from distance. The long shot, however, was an easy catch for E. Schelbert. Linke's S. Shareef left the field after 18 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was W. Blut. After 19 minutes of play, R. Eckstein evened things up for LemmaVonZorn with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1. M. Erfeldern caused mayhem in his own defensive line with some mad dribbles within his own penalty zone, but LemmaVonZorn's B. Paschinger's shot went just wide. Linke's W. Blut made use of his speed to get free of the defence, but he still couldn't get a shot off 24 minutes into the match. H. Blöchl rose like a salmon, and was very close to scoring with a header after a corner, but sent the ball just over the bar. R. Eberharter looked great 26 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' P. Lara. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, H. Blöchl got himself booked. The manager of Linke was not happy. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Linke had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

The LemmaVonZorn free kick 48 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of C. Marcocchi, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 2 - 1! Linke tied it all up, 54 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by L. Fernández, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 2 - 2. After 62 minutes, Linke's H. Blöchl made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 2 - 3. After 67 minutes of play, A. Catanzaro equalised for LemmaVonZorn after an elegant attack from the right. Linke took the lead after 68 minutes making the score 3 - 4. M. Erfeldern placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. P. Lara of Linke was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. After the ball was lifted in from the left, M. Erfeldern was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 79 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Linke coach let J. Madoz replace H. Blöchl after 81 minutes. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Linke, with 54 percent of the ball.

C. Marcocchi performed admirably for LemmaVonZorn. However, R. Eberharter made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Linke player was without a doubt W. Blut. On the other hand, J. Seiler's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 4.
