Clouds darkened the skies at
Alianz Arena as 3248 spectators turned up for the match.
Perttu Hein was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Girolamo Di Giacomo and
Alexandru Niculescu.
München tactics involved an interesting 4-3-2 combination.

10 minutes into the game, München seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
weak level of organisation.
N. Ciocoiu's lack of experience almost gave Basildon a goal after 11 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
A handball in the penalty area gave the home team a penalty 13 minutes into the match, and

G. Bird was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 26 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 1 - 2 was the score.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
N. Sordoni got himself booked. The manager of München was not happy.
A tussle 36 minutes into the match resulted in a penalty being awarded to the home team and
L. Ameneiro put the ball into the back of the net without any difficulty. That tied the score up at 2 - 2.
The home side put themselves ahead 3 - 2 after 37 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
C. Şaru, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
R. Boddie of Basildon was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
It was 3 - 2 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by München, with 63 percent of the ball.
Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of München was able to get his message across, and raised München's organisation to
solid.
The score became 4 - 2 at 58 minutes into the game, when München were given a penalty which
L. Ameneiro blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance!

J. Fosdyke of Basildon fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
München put in a good effort on the right, but
E. Koopmans saw his volley fly wide of the mark 73 minutes into the game.
München's
N. Ciocoiu saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 77 minutes.
Basildon were pushed back, and had many dangerous counterattacks. An impressive one came 78 minutes into the match, but
R. Boddie narrowly missed the free kick attempt that was awarded as a result of a foul.
München had most of the ball, with 70 percent of possession.
Most important München player was
H. Grijsaart.
Y. Paltsev on the other hand, had a terrible day.
M. Rodríguez performed admirably for Basildon.
However,
I. Young made a disastrous appearance.
