Dark skies made the crowd of 1530 at Abril Estadium a little nervous, but the rain held off. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Monreal. Monreal's M. Komrij got himself booked for a foul. O. Rüzgar sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from M. Marcaccio from Monreal a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 40 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Dugalitsch made a spectacular save. Having turned the direction of play quickly, the Wannabes counter attack ended as the ball carrier was brought down violently by a defender after 42 minutes. The resulting free kick was a flat shot into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and did not allow the opponents to reach the ball. With 43 minutes played, D. Grzegorek of Monreal fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Monreal, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.

After a short break after 46 minutes, Monreal seemed to change their tactical approach a bit. Wannabes's Y. Prishchepenko was shown a yellow card after 56 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. O. Rüzgar squirmed through their central defence after 58 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. Cheers filled the stadium as G. Capraro broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to Monreal. Confident in their lead, Monreal's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. There was concern in the stands when, at the 79 minute mark, Monreal's M. Muckenfuss hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. Monreal enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.

Monreal's top performer was clearly O. Rüzgar. H. Carlsson on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Wannabes player was without a doubt B. Wilmar. However, E. Gehrt made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 0.
