previous 8/10 next 10/10  Little 2 - 0 NySi76 (379483474)

Due to an all-day shower, 1989 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Corleone Arena. Tom Harsch was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ahmed Zerouati and Alberto Vouzela. Little decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. They fielded: Iturralde González - Margenat, Milenkovic, Kalsbergas - Slipchinsky, Þorkelsson, Piep, Schreder - Hamer, Sáez, Baganha.

A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for NySi76. The following players had been chosen: Eriksson - Spee, Klötzer, Wildemann, Lehan - Khallali, Delavaud, Van Eylen, Ortiz Aspe, Wreth - Herne.

It was an obvious ambition of Little to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. NySi76 seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Little's B. Milenkovic got himself booked for a foul. 10 minutes into the game, L. Herne was a hair's breadth away from giving NySi76 the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by F. Iturralde González saved the home team that time. Little took the lead after 11 minutes as a result of G. Baganha's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. 18 minutes in, NySi76 appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only weak. Little's J. Þorkelsson was shown a yellow card after 27 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Little, with 55 percent of the ball.

A review of the gameplan helped NySi76 get back to a passable organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 56 minutes, Little did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, V. Sáez was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 2 - 0. NySi76's right side looked dangerous after 63 minutes, as N. Wildemann broke through. F. Iturralde González continued to stifle them, however, as he made the save look easy. Thighs bulging, T. Piep charged past the weaker players, seemingly oblivious to the rain. The referee showed Little's G. Schreder the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 82 minutes into the game, NySi76 seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to inadequate. Little enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

Little's top performer was clearly E. Hamer. B. Milenkovic on the other hand, had a terrible day. NySi76's best player was L. Herne. On the other hand, N. Wildemann's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 0.
