previous 9/10 next 1/10  banaadir 2 - 4 Nagyszénás (379484374)

The crowd of 1604 turning up at banaadir today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Thembekile Mphahlele was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Iver Kimose and Mikoláš Rouček. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for banaadir. Lineup: Neogy - Wangusa, Alafer, Stenström - Kizito, Robles, Burgemeester, Nieuwenhuize, Hinton - Laronche, Jonkers.

Nagyszénás tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. They fielded: Manczúr - Lenti, Atwal - Teszár, Baba, Althammer, Gelei, Relinque - Licska, Flores, Bóka.

banaadir used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Nagyszénás's I. Flores could have put the guests one up after 20 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but A. Neogy was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. banaadir had a good opportunity to take the lead as C. Jonkers came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of Z. Manczúr. 29 minutes into the match, Nagyszénás nearly took the lead, as M. Teszár broke through on the right. A. Neogy made the save, however. 34 minutes into the game, I. Flores had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. With 35 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, I. Lenti needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. The visiting J. Licska was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 37 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. Nagyszénás's J. Relinque was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 38 minutes. After a scuffle in the guests' penalty area 39 minutes into the game, the home team was awarded a penalty. Y. Wangusa scored to make it 1 - 1. It was 1 - 1 at the break. Nagyszénás claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.

A. Althammer would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. L. Árvay entered the game for Nagyszénás as the match clock showed 46 minutes. L. Robles, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Nagyszénás substitution. S. Havrán came on for K. Atwal. As the 65 minute mark approached, the Nagyszénás coach decided it was time for a substitution. E. Gelei reluctantly made way for G. Kozma on the pitch. G. Kozma became the new Nagyszénás captain. The terraces were silenced after 69 minutes when Nagyszénás's G. Kozma put the guests ahead 1 - 2, following an attack on the right. After 70 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave J. Licska a chance to increase the lead for Nagyszénás, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 3. With 72 minutes played, M. Teszár nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. The visitors almost increased their lead after 76 minutes when a sweetly hit free kick looked like it was heading for the top corner. However the keeper managed to get a fingertip to it, sending it over the bar. S. Havrán received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 77 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 4. The Nagyszénás fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Nagyszénás lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. banaadir's E. Laronche got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 2 - 4. Nagyszénás had most of the ball, with 70 percent of possession.

E. Laronche performed admirably for banaadir. On the other hand, A. Nieuwenhuize's play was disheartening. The most dominating Nagyszénás player was without a doubt J. Licska. Z. Manczúr on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 4.
