Slack defending gave Varese a chance to take the lead with 44 minutes played, but D. Segale's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit A. Litjens just fine. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Snasti, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.

The Snasti players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a solid organisation when the game started again. 73 minutes into the game, Snasti had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to inadequate.
