Cornello was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions. The unexpected cross pass from rottweilers's A. Évain after 21 minutes opened up the defence and was received by B. Fjälling who finished off for 2 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Pollies, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

Pollies's A. Houtkamp increased the lead to 3 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 47 minutes. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Pollies to 4 - 1 as D. Rekers finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Pollies managed to extend their lead to 5 - 1 when N. Immerman cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Pollies lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Pollies's D. Markies had an excellent opportunity after 65 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! The counterattacks of rottweilers were deadly and 66 minutes into the game, A. Gorte received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 5 - 2.
