Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 1900 to Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. Patrick Rossa was the appointed referee with assistance provided by David Roca and Mircea Ropotan. It was an obvious ambition of Szanka to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. Thun clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. A lunatic dribble by B. Roczkó, in front of his own keeper, set up Thun's R. Daepp for an embarrassingly easy strike after 15 minutes. 0 - 1! After 19 minutes, Thun sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached A. Medina, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 0 - 2. Szanka's H. Makai had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 21 minutes having been played. F. Törös was the replacement. Thun's T. Tell was shown a yellow card after 34 minutes for slicing down an opponent. With 35 minutes played, Thun put themselves up 0 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was R. Daepp. Confident in their lead, Thun's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. After 39 minutes, Thun's T. Tell fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! Thun players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. After 43 minutes of game time, R. Daepp had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but Á. Hegedüs was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. Z. Kenderesi of Szanka received a yellow card after 43 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Halftime score was 0 - 3. Thun had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.

D. Frontaurea came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over Á. Hegedüs but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. A drive down the left side allowed T. Tell to get in close and score another goal for Thun after 63 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 4. T. Maurey's lack of experience almost gave Szanka a goal after 71 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. The home crowd was not impressed when T. Tell came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 72 minutes. Thun were now up 0 - 5. T. Maurey was, after 73 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper Á. Hegedüs made the save. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, A. Medina would have put Thun up another goal 74 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. Thun claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 65 percent.

The most dominating Szanka player was without a doubt S. Törös. F. Törös was a disappointment, however. R. Daepp performed admirably for Thun. O. Kellens turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 5.
