previous 3/10 next 5/10  Jambos 5 - 1 Minde (379540861)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 3985 had shown up at Tynecastle Volkspark for the match. Vasco Nascimento was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Thomas Capoccia and Anker Skøtt. Jambos started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. Starters: Hollinger - Mula, Artioli - Niesler, Quaderer, Overbergh, Masel, Slåtten - Rahmoun, Nestor, Azpurua.

Minde had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Sá - Bolcioni, Castaño, Shibuda - Canet, Griesenbeck, Valori, Chrostek, Hunaydi - Esquerrer, Rabai.

Jambos's D. Overbergh tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. C. Mula caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 11 minutes. This gave Jambos the 1 - 0 lead. After 25 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by D. Overbergh might have resulted in another goal for Jambos. However, D. Sá made a spectacular save. E. Quaderer hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving Jambos's C. Nestor an easy chance to knock it in for 2 - 0. By now, the players in Jambos felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Jambos managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when K. Niesler cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0. Jambos claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.

After 46 minutes of the match, the manager still hoped to turn things around. F. Canet was ordered to assume a different position on the pitch. He took the place of F. Shibuda, who in turn replaced his team mate. After 46 minutes, Minde switched M. Rabai with A. Rangelov, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. With 46 minutes played, the Minde coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. M. Roca came on, I. Esquerrer had to leave the fray. F. Shibuda was the new captain of Minde - handed the armband by the departing player. G. Masel wanted to play on, but the Jambos coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 61 minutes into the game by A. Shapetko. E. Quaderer was handed the Jambos captain's armband. R. Slåtten had a fantastic opportunity to put Jambos up another goal 65 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. 68 minutes into the match, the speedy F. Hunaydi easily outpaced R. Artioli, chipped the keeper and made the score 3 - 1. C. Mula increased the lead for Jambos to 4 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Minde's C. Bolcioni was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 70 minutes. A. Thyssen was given a chance to change things around. The home side's C. Mula came close to extending the lead 75 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but D. Sá managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. With 76 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Minde resulted in a counterattack that set A. Rangelov free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. With 78 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, M. Griesenbeck needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. Jambos's A. Shapetko was shown a yellow card after 80 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Jambos put themselves up 5 - 1 when A. Rahmoun broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. Possession in this half belonged to Jambos, who controlled the ball 66 percent of the time.

Jambos's top performer was clearly E. Quaderer. C. Mula was a disappointment, however. Most important Minde player was A. Rangelov. On the other hand, F. Canet's play was disheartening. The match ends 5 - 1.
