previous 9/10 next 1/10  Renaissance 0 - 2 Langer (379552933)

1559 spectators had found their way to Jules Michelet Arena, despite the heavy rain. Marko Ernstberger was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Arild Marstein and Maciej Goś. Renaissance had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. They fielded: Japinha - Kočka, Sieniawski, Parada, Brezovcsik, Lacombe - Burba, Çelaj, Lasagna, Fucà - De Grazia.

Langer started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. Starters: Vochin - Iribi, Ibarra, Schornstein - Bhupathiraju, Ariyapadi, Muralidharan, Jenayah - Variar, Nandini, Kazmi.

Pressing was the tactic of the day for Renaissance. Langer clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. Langer had to make a substitution after 19 minutes. V. Variar limped off the field and was replaced by A. Gangawane. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, P. Bhupathiraju got himself booked. The manager of Langer was not happy. Renaissance's M. Fucà got himself booked for a foul. A. Gangawane was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Langer's S. Świtoń had to come off the bench. With 37 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. S. Świtoń put the ball away for 0 - 1. It was 0 - 1 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Langer, with 53 percent of the ball.

After 46 minutes, Renaissance switched A. Burba with 纪. 耀宁 (Yaoning), hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Renaissance needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 55 minutes S. Lasagna made way for E. Temmink. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Renaissance's L. De Grazia was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 59 minutes. S. Ozimkowski was given a chance to change things around. With the clock showing 61 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Langer resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by P. Bhupathiraju in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. After 70 minutes, Langer's C. Ariyapadi burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave S. Ozimkowski from Renaissance a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 71 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! A misunderstanding between the visitors' keeper A. Vochin and his left defence could have resulted in a goal for Renaissance, but B. Brezovcsik's finish was way too lame. Langer claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

Renaissance's best player was S. Ozimkowski. I. Kočka was a disappointment, however. Most important Langer player was S. Świtoń. P. Bhupathiraju on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 2.
