30-05-2012 09.45
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 4494 that came out to
Karya Arena.
Edward Stock was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Guus Wortel and
Tatu Sallanpuro.
Thyela started off with a 4-5-1 lineup.
The following players took the field: Fegic - Vennix, Arroyo, Giftos, Mariakis - Nomikos, Dreliozis, Deves, Lamba, Vrachnos - Caloca.
Pragg-Jenaz tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Grote-Breese - Droux, Röyskä - Arechi, Ervilha, Nkumba, Vencl, Schäffer - Markart, Chappate, Pastuszka.
Pragg-Jenaz took a creative approach on the field.
A. Nkumba enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again.
Thyela made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
K. Dreliozis completely alone with keeper
R. Grote-Breese, who made a spectacular block.
K. Dreliozis neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to
L. Mariakis who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post.
B. Pastuszka came close to putting the visiting team one up 42 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
A. Fegic managed to tip the ball to a corner.
With 43 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Thyela resulted in a counterattack that set
L. Mariakis free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save.
0 - 0 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Thyela, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.
46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Thyela substitution.
S. Gkloumis came on for
F. Lamba.
Pragg-Jenaz's
A. Nkumba refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 61 minutes.
As the clock reached 70 minutes, Pragg-Jenaz decided to regroup.
B. Pastuszka gave
J. Ervilha a little pat on the back as they changed positions on the pitch.
75 minutes into the game,
A. Nkumba almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
Pragg-Jenaz's
T. Markart got himself booked for a foul.
As the 78 minute mark approached, the Pragg-Jenaz coach decided it was time for a substitution.
K. Schäffer reluctantly made way for
S. Lamparth on the pitch.
Y. Vrachnos of Thyela received a yellow card after 80 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
After 80 minutes, the Pragg-Jenaz coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
I. Chappate off the field.
G. Laudadio took his place.
With 82 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience,
N. Deves needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed.
88 minutes into the game, Pragg-Jenaz wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
R. Grote-Breese gave
F. Cattaneo a quick hug as he left the field.
The Pragg-Jenaz captaincy was handed to
C. Arechi.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Thyela, with 53 percent of the ball.
Most important Thyela player was
S. Gkloumis.
A. Nomikos turned in a dismal performance, however.
Pragg-Jenaz's top performer was clearly
G. Laudadio.
T. Vencl on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 0.
