previous 9/10 next 1/10  FUORI 4 - 2 Kollegen (379600155)

The 2771 fans in attendance at MARACANA' Arena were roasting in the hot sun. Bobby Zurkirch was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Erik Mocsai and Emil-Ali Steppich. FUORI tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination. Starters: Fraleoni - Eceiza, Moro, Minopoli, Blecharczyk, Le Falher - Jack, de Kreek, Rae, Chiarelli - Betta.

Kollegen started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Evers - Radziwill, Engelhard, Seimel - Schaubert, Weischedel, Grubmüller, Eralp, Kleinhappl - Kolotygin, Nieroth.

For their match strategy, Kollegen had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 5 minutes into the match left Kollegen's Y. Weischedel completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. FUORI's G. Minopoli made a successful breakthrough on the left after 10 minutes and should have levelled the score, but instead he clipped it over the bar. Kollegen's K. Engelhard refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 15 minutes. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from P. Kolotygin after 17 minutes, and prevented Kollegen from going up another goal. 18 minutes into the game, FUORI seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. FUORI put pressure on the visitors' central defence 20 minutes into the game, but A. Betta couldn't find an opening. P. Kolotygin came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over G. Fraleoni but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. Halftime score was 0 - 1. Kollegen enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of FUORI was able to get his message across, and raised FUORI's organisation to solid. D. Chiarelli's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert R. Jack was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for FUORI. 1 - 1. As the 50 minute mark approached, the Kollegen coach decided it was time for a substitution. M. Seimel reluctantly made way for T. Kurtzbach on the pitch. With 54 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. K. Engelhard put the ball away for 1 - 2. With 57 minutes played, the FUORI coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. A. Yläpelto came on, M. Rae had to leave the fray. The bench was restless, and with 62 minutes passed FUORI's coach gave H. Kankaisto the opportunity the player had been hoping for. G. Minopoli reluctantly left the field. J. Radziwill left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 65 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. F. Austke was the replacement. Due to some great work on the right wing FUORI's R. de Kreek was able to even the score after 65 minutes to make the score 2 - 2. The heat made it a terrible day for H. Nieroth, who seemed unable to keep up with the other players. After a fine move down the middle A. Yläpelto nearly gave the home side a goal after 76 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. With 77 minutes gone, J. Grubmüller suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Kollegen caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. The FUORI free kick 79 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of A. Eceiza, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 3 - 2! The sun seemed to put F. Austke in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long. FUORI increased the lead as A. Betta struck to make the score 4 - 2 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by FUORI, with 56 percent of the ball.

R. Jack performed admirably for FUORI. K. Blecharczyk on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Kollegen player was J. Grubmüller. Y. Weischedel was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 2.
