previous 1/10 next 3/10  Real 2 - 0 CDA (379682177)

4684 spectators had come to The Volcano this cloudy day. Ronald Moya was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Fabrizio Deriu and Willem Jasarevic. Real decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. Starters: Muhamed - Miholka, Singh, Lucas, Waite - Sinclair, Denton, Herbert, Eaton, Letter - Chin.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for CDA. The following players had been chosen: Ureña - Dueñas, Pajączek, Delort - Caseda, Peñarredonda, Trujillo, Raño, Dumitrache - Carltorp, Saavedra.

The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 2 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from G. Sinclair, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. D. Caseda of CDA received a yellow card after 9 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. There was concern in the stands when, at the 15 minute mark, CDA's A. Pajączek hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Real enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 69 percent of possession.

Real's L. Singh showed off his trademark ability to do the unexpected with a tricky pass after 54 minutes. Unfortunately, P. Chin was startled by the play and wasn't able to control the finish. G. Sinclair sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from L. Singh after 84 minutes of play, making the score 2 - 0. The players of Real now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, CDA's C. Dueñas was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 85 minutes. Á. Minetti was given a chance to change things around. CDA needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 85 minutes A. Saavedra made way for E. Elefterescu. After 86 minutes, Real were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. P. Lucas did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. W. Trujillo's lack of experience almost gave Real a goal after 87 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. With 89 minutes played, G. Sinclair of Real fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Coming from the right, L. Eaton almost managed to score another goal for Real, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. Real had most of the ball, with 71 percent of possession.

Real's best player was B. Herbert. K. Miholka turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important CDA player was E. Elefterescu. B. Raño was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
