Asclepius 6 - 1 GwFC (379694118)

Dark skies made the crowd of 69216 at Millenium Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Bjarke Stadsholt was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jeppe Kure Vidkjær and Arvid Paulsson. Asclepius decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Siancas - Badin, Mor-Yossef, van Gerwen - Woo, Lundt, Højfeldt, Sunesson, Kim - Pasveer, Vaerten.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for GwFC. Starters: Kim - Park, Lee, Jagłowski - Park, Tak, Kim, Ryu, Kim - Lee, Kim.

GwFC took a creative approach on the field. Asclepius fans held their breath as C. Badin scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! K. Pasveer unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. GwFC managed, after 13 minutes, to even the score at 1 - 1 with a lucky free kick by S. Kim. Somehow the ball squirmed its way through the defensive wall! After 24 minutes, J. Kim came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving Asclepius the lead. Asclepius put themselves up 3 - 1 when J. Kim broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 1. Asclepius claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

A great save by keeper B. Kim after 49 minutes kept the visitors in the game after C. Badin struck from the left with a real cannonball. With 53 minutes played, K. Pasveer could have brought this one home for Asclepius as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. The referee showed Asclepius's E. Vaerten the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. With 76 minutes played, Asclepius put themselves up 4 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to Y. Woo, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 77 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called GwFC's S. Kim to one side and produced a red card for the player. C. Badin of Asclepius had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. P. Øien came in to finish the match. Always a threat, J. Kim tore past his marker and placed the ball right at the feet of the waiting E. Vaerten who should have easily scored for Asclepius, but the ball went wide. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Asclepius's F. Højfeldt increasing the lead to 5 - 1. Y. Woo of Asclepius seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 6 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by P. van Gerwen. Asclepius had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.

Most important Asclepius player was K. Pasveer. N. Siancas was a disappointment, however. GwFC's top performer was clearly S. Kim. On the other hand, S. Kim's play was disheartening. The match ends 6 - 1.
