1060 spectators had found their way to
Pirate Hell, despite the heavy rain.
Bo Patzina was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Klaus Poikulainen and
Simon Haldbæk.
Nicolas tactics involved an interesting 4-3-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Piechot - Mogyorós, Kneisel, Florntz, Maytain - Wiedmann, Willimann, Fivaz - Hubli, Pagniez.
Brot decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: Badynski - Beichler, Bollmann, Richner, Engler - Hann, Fernán Gómez, Weizenegger, Allstetter - Brandestini, Guillou.
Nicolas clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
Y. Florntz neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to
N. Hubli who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post.
Many thought
G. Willimann ought to have been awarded a penalty 19 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
S. Badynski after a determined run through the middle.
Good work by the Nicolas defensive line after 28 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found
Y. Florntz alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide.
After 40 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Nicolas found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
inadequate.
F. Engler's lack of experience almost gave Nicolas a goal after 44 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
Brot's
C. Brandestini got himself booked for a foul.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0.
Brot enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 67 percent of possession.
The Nicolas players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a
solid organisation when the game started again.
The guests took the lead 47 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
S. Hann scoring to make it 0 - 1.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Brot tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
F. Engler slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 0 - 2, 59 minutes into the game.
Brot's
I. Richner was shown a yellow card after 65 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
73 minutes in, Nicolas appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
weak.
Brot had most of the ball, with 68 percent of possession.
Nicolas's top performer was clearly
Y. Florntz.
On the other hand,
B. Kneisel's play was disheartening.
S. Badynski performed admirably for Brot.
R. Allstetter turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 2.
