1253 spectators had found their way to
Bieniewo Stadium, despite the heavy rain.
Roland Pompaugnac was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Heinrich Merkur and
Pete Stanley.
Bieniewo started off with a 2-5-3 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Aburuza - Venzin, Lantz - Holuša, Henrion, Drakfeldt, Mroczko, Delalut - Galicki, Grablewski, Cybruch.
Braunschweig had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation.
Starters: Noël - Verba, Dieste, Herceg, van der Lip, Schigt - Maschen, Mouzakitis, Rogalla von Bieberstein - Rose, Di Puorto.
A. Henrion gave Bieniewo the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0
After 14 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Bieniewo was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options.
R. Holuša struck a 30 metre free kick home 15 minutes into the match. 2 - 0 for the home team.
E. Drakfeldt had a fantastic opportunity to put Bieniewo up another goal 25 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
Bieniewo were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 28 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by
R. Holuša. 3 - 0 for the home side.
Confident in their lead, Bieniewo's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.

S. Delalut slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today.

B. Galicki he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 4 - 0.
B. Galicki didn't let the weather get him down and made some great moves on the pitch in spite of the rain.
After 78 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
B. Galicki might have resulted in another goal for Bieniewo. However,
P. Noël made a spectacular save.
P. Verba's lack of experience almost gave Bieniewo a goal after 82 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
After 84 minutes,
T. Rogalla von Bieberstein replied with a fantastic free kick and the ball went in off the bar. 4 - 1.
