2416 spectators arrived at
Ultras, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Dolbert Boersema was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Stefaan De Schampheleire and
Dave Donnelly.
Ultra` decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Stafurskis - Luginbuehl, Clausen, Széplaki - Özke, Voicu, Lafolie, Drăghicescu, Goga - Rettinger, Duch.
Sottosopra tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Kempter - Martínez Santa, Guarrat - Panebianco, Rossetti, Floridia, Findeiss, Vodoleev - Bottero, Lamioni, Vieri.
Ultra` decided to play creatively.
Sottosopra preferred to finish off their attacks from a distance.
Ultra` fans held their breath as
C. Rettinger scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
B. Özke should probably have put his team up another goal after 17 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
A. Kempter kept the visitors in the game.
Ultra` put themselves up 2 - 0 when
A. Duch broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
Confident in their lead, Ultra`'s players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Vodoleev from Sottosopra a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 24 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
B. Özke squirmed through their central defence after 34 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0.
Ultra`'s
J. Lafolie had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 37 minutes having been played.
C. Mălaimare was the replacement.
The Ultra` captaincy was handed to
A. Duch.
A penalty 39 minutes into the game gave the home side a chance at adding to the score, but an overconfident
A. Duch shot the ball wide trying to put it away in the top corner.
39 minutes in, Ultra`'s
L. Goga received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
3 - 0 was the halftime score.
Ultra` enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.
After 50 minutes,
M. Martínez Santa replied with a fantastic free kick and the ball went in off the bar. 3 - 1.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Ultra`'s
A. Duch increasing the lead to 4 - 1.
C. Mălaimare could have put Ultra` up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 52 minutes.
After 60 minutes Sottosopra's
J. Guarrat contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game.
The head of
B. Özke connected with a corner kick after 63 minutes, and the ball ended up with
M. Clausen of Ultra` who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 5 - 1.
The home team's fans were upset when, after 67 minutes, the visiting
S. Lamioni broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 5 - 2 was the score.
Ultra` claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
Ultra`'s best player was
A. Duch.
On the other hand,
M. Clausen's play was disheartening.
A. Vodoleev performed admirably for Sottosopra.
However,
E. Floridia made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 5 - 2.
