(379817229)

06-06-2012 12.25
It had rained all day, but 896 hardy fans still made it out to
La Arruzafa.
Pawel Jedryka was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Rene Dimpfl and
David Medar.
Califa had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation.
They fielded: Gabín - Parada, Higuera, Marsans, Rajczyk - Cerdán, Xira, Jordán, Viejo, Mata Castro - Estellé.
MFC tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
Lineup: Molteni - Škudzinskas, Vinterdahl - Rohden, Tuja, Lonergan, Baron, Ejlersen - Duvigneau, Parkkila, Borch.
J. Rajczyk's lack of experience almost gave MFC a goal after 8 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
With 16 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
P. Borch put the ball away for 0 - 1.
27 minutes into the game, MFC worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
The crowd was on its feet 33 minutes into the match, as Califa's
C. Xira found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equaliser.
The home keeper expected a move to the right, but
J. Rohden surprised him with a free kick aimed the other way 36 minutes into the match. 1 - 2 for MFC.
J. Rajczyk did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch.
A drive down the left side allowed
A. Duvigneau to get in close and score another goal for MFC after 41 minutes, taking the score to 1 - 3.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 3.
MFC enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
With 46 minutes played, the Califa coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
V. Andrés came on,
T. Gabín had to leave the fray.
After 46 minutes, Califa switched
Z. Jordán with
E. Oñate, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
F. Estellé became the new Califa captain.
Califa needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 46 minutes
F. Estellé made way for
H. Herrera.
As the captain was no longer on the pitch,
H. Herrera took over the role of being the Califa captain.
55 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 4 as
A. Duvigneau finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
59 minutes into the game Califa broke through on the left wing and
H. Herrera managed to reduce the lead to 2 - 4.
The rain made it hard for players like
P. Borch to show their technical control of the ball on this soggy day.
MFC claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
Califa's best player was
C. Xira.
E. Marsans turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important MFC player was
E. Parkkila.
However,
C. Molteni made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 4.
