previous 1/10 next 3/10  B0n3s 1 - 3 Tomsk (379850054)

Due to an all-day shower, 3978 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at b0n3s Arena. Maximilien Aerts was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ramón Escobar and Florian Baudot. B0n3s decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Calmans - Bērziņš, Skalbergs, Rozentāls - Galviņš, Lanzana, Baldzēns, Szalai, Esenbergs - Matulis, Neiburgs.

Tomsk had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. They fielded: Iffiú - Anufriev, Starobin, Filippov, Polyak - Palade, Törnér, Medvetskiy, Kroeger, Karakolev - Schimid.

B0n3s displayed their ability to play creatively. It was obvious that Tomsk were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic. 0 - 1 was the score with 4 minutes played, after D. Medvetskiy cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Tomsk. Tomsk pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. Tomsk's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. V. Filippov didn't let the weather get him down and made some great moves on the pitch in spite of the rain. After 33 minutes, Tomsk were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. V. Schimid did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. D. Medvetskiy did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. Some fine movement on the left led to a Tomsk goal after 39 minutes, making it 0 - 2. D. Kroeger was noted down as the scorer. It was 0 - 2 at the break. Tomsk enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.

With 47 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed V. Schimid of Tomsk to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, V. Schimid would have put Tomsk up another goal 48 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. The home crowd were delighted when V. Bērziņš scored with a header after an attack from the right, making the score 1 - 3. But did he use his hand? That'll be one for the pundits to talk about after the game, that's for sure! Tomsk's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle. The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like M. Baldzēns. The referee showed B0n3s's J. Matulis the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. At this time in the match, Tomsk were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Tomsk, with 59 percent of the ball.

M. Baldzēns performed admirably for B0n3s. R. Rozentāls on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Tomsk player was H. Törnér. On the other hand, S. Anufriev's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 3.
