Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 1379 at LA JAULA DE ALCORCON today. Daniel Dénervaud was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Don Reerink and Jakub Hutyra. ATLETICO had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. They fielded: Chiappa - Lundgaard, Sohier, Manoliadis - Ferrán López, Irarrazábal, Brenes, Selter - Spin, Dibáczy, Torelli.

Bravos tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Espinós - Montafia, Asma, Madrona - Vinuesa, Cortiguera, Sierra Galán, Pallares, Fernández Casariego - Regidor, Guazo.

L. Irarrazábal of ATLETICO seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 1 - 0 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by N. Lundgaard. A cross coming in on the right hand side left D. Pallares alone in front of the goal after 35 minutes but his shot was woeful. ATLETICO's A. Manoliadis got himself booked for a foul. Bravos were forced into a substitution as F. Espinós couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing L. Admetlla to come in off the bench. A. Montafia was the new captain of Bravos - handed the armband by the departing player. The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 42 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but when R. Vinuesa tried to finish the attack, he couldn't deliver the shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper. It was 1 - 0 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by ATLETICO, with 53 percent of the ball.

The coach of ATLETICO was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes, O. Kedem came on for D. Torelli. The home side's E. Dibáczy came close to extending the lead 61 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but L. Admetlla managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. ATLETICO managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when L. Irarrazábal cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. K. Selter wanted to play on, but the ATLETICO coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 80 minutes into the game by L. van Akkeren. ATLETICO's O. Kedem had an excellent opportunity after 82 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! With 85 minutes played, D. Spin of ATLETICO fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Bravos kept trying to force their way through on the right side and R. Vinuesa got his chance after 86 minutes, but the home side's defence held their position and stopped the attack. E. Sierra Galán behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 87 minutes as he gave the ball away to E. Ferrán López. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. Coming from the right, L. Irarrazábal almost managed to score another goal for ATLETICO, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. E. Dibáczy left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 89 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. E. Aasheim was the replacement. ATLETICO claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.

The most dominating ATLETICO player was without a doubt O. Kedem. However, D. Spin made a disastrous appearance. F. Regidor performed admirably for Bravos. L. Admetlla was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
