previous 9/10 next 1/10  Olavs Menn 9 - 0 Parramatta (379860526)

It had rained all day, but 3785 hardy fans still made it out to Stiklestad Amfi. Mose' D'arrigo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Silvério Dornelles and Klaus Peter Oechsle. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Olavs Menn. Lineup: Stensby - Talberg, Nordlund, Johannessen - Engravslia, Gleditsch, Hansen, Molgren, Martinussen - Ingvaldsen, Krosby.

Parramatta decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. The following players had been chosen: Pichler - Pichler, Pichler - Salle, Pichler, Sztuba, Ojrzyński, König - Pichler, Pichler, Kański.

Pressing was the tactic of the day for Parramatta. 3 minutes into the match, the speedy Å. Ingvaldsen easily outpaced J. Pichler, chipped the keeper and made the score 1 - 0. C. Engravslia of Olavs Menn was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Å. Ingvaldsen increased the lead for Olavs Menn to 2 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! After 36 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and C. Molgren gave the Olavs Menn supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 0. Confident in their lead, Olavs Menn's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. With 43 minutes gone, Olavs Menn had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However, A. Krosby did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out. The bench was restless, and with 44 minutes passed Parramatta's coach gave P. Wojewódzki the opportunity the player had been hoping for. B. König reluctantly left the field. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Parramatta's W. Sztuba was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 44 minutes. T. Bendkowski was given a chance to change things around. It was a bad day for the usually speedy C. Engravslia. The mud seemed to slow him down. With 44 minutes gone, C. Pichler suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Parramatta caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, F. Pichler got himself booked. The manager of Parramatta was not happy. A wonderful trick by J. Martinussen that left C. Pichler bewildered really deserved to end in a goal but the keeper made a fine save. Olavs Menn put themselves up 4 - 0 when Å. Ingvaldsen broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. By then Å. Ingvaldsen had scored three goals - a hat trick! The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 0. Olavs Menn enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 74 percent of possession.

Cheers filled the stadium as E. Talberg broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 0 to Olavs Menn. The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like T. Bendkowski. Olavs Menn's D. Hansen struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 6 - 0 after 64 minutes. The referee showed Olavs Menn's A. Krosby the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. J. Pichler of Parramatta had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. E. Habsburg came in to finish the match. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Olavs Menn's Å. Ingvaldsen increasing the lead to 7 - 0. After 76 minutes, K. Nordlund put Olavs Menn ahead 8 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Maybe due to the uphill battle the team was facing, the Parramatta manager looked to change things around. After 77 minutes, G. Salle and J. Pichler swapped positions on the field. After 80 minutes, a deliberate handball from Parramatta's F. Pichler was judged to be his second bookable offence, and he was sent off. Olavs Menn's C. Molgren increased the lead to 9 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 83 minutes. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Olavs Menn, with 76 percent of the ball.

Olavs Menn's top performer was clearly Å. Ingvaldsen. On the other hand, C. Engravslia's play was disheartening. The most dominating Parramatta player was without a doubt C. Pichler. E. Habsburg on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 9 - 0.
