Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Universita. The referee showed A.C.'s A. Erazo the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 33 minutes into the game, Universita seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a solid level of organisation. 36 minutes in, Universita appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only weak. It was 0 - 0 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Universita, with 65 percent of the ball.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Universita was able to get his message across, and raised Universita's organisation to solid. J. Martí got new instructions from the A.C. coach after 75 minutes. He changed positions with P. Chianese soon after. Universita's E. Dettenhausen gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 83 minutes with a superb strike from the right. Universita came close to extending their lead as M. Nesi delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 84 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Speedy A. Saldívar tried one of his patented rushes 85 minutes into the game, but H. Purizaca was just as fast and averted the attack. The corner kick from M. Nesi was powerfully met by the head of M. Vanderslagmolen to make the score 0 - 2. 88 minutes into the game, Universita seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to weak. D. Wojciak wanted to play on, but the Universita coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 89 minutes into the game by C. Barksdale. The Universita players could smell victory in the air. M. Vanderslagmolen wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for B. Vrchovský after 89 minutes. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Universita coach let H. Haldern replace T. Zindt after 89 minutes. Universita enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.

A.C.'s best player was E. Goulart. M. Insiodo turned in a dismal performance, however. E. Dettenhausen performed admirably for Universita. J. Málaga was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 2.
