Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
San Plonkaz saw a crowd turnout of 2419.
Joël Gubert was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Tommy Leimsiede and
Ryan-Patrick Ochsenkühn.
Plonkaz decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Kafka - Urpila, Bengtsson, Bernabeu - Spiess, Ribeiro, Salaorni, Winistörfer, Kurman - Acar, Kröll.
A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Klotzen.
Lineup: Melchner - Avramović, Popov, Flühler, Scheibenpflug, Steinwender - Seiderer, Weicht, Soto Barón, Radice - Dotan.
Klotzen were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
Klotzen's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing
P. Weicht to score easily from the right flank for 0 - 1.
What was
H. Winistörfer thinking? That's what everyone wondered when, for no apparent reason, he shot a cross pass over his own penalty area, giving
G. Radice an extra chance, but unfortunately for Klotzen, he didn't get the shot right.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
W. Flühler from Klotzen a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 33 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
0 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Plonkaz, with 77 percent of the ball.
M. Avramović wanted to play on, but the Klotzen coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by
S. Varsamis.
After 68 minutes, a long pass from Plonkaz's
L. Ribeiro caught the defence out of position.
O. Kröll collected the ball, and with the goal at his mercy calmly rolled the ball just inside the post. 1 - 1.
M. Bengtsson was very close to giving Plonkaz the lead with an ingenious free kick routine 70 minutes into the match, but the ball just grazed the bar.
P. Weicht stunned the crowd with a brilliant counterattack from the left, giving Klotzen the goal to make it 1 - 2.
Klotzen played a good counterattacking move down the left 76 minutes into the match, with
G. Radice finishing well for 1 - 3.
After 80 minutes, the defensive line of Klotzen created a counterattack through the middle that gave
G. Radice a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
Plonkaz enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 74 percent of possession.
Plonkaz's best player was
L. Ribeiro.
However,
V. Urpila made a disastrous appearance.
Klotzen's top performer was clearly
A. Dotan.
P. Scheibenpflug was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 1 - 3.
