05-06-2012 20.30
Clouds darkened the skies at
Blom Field as 2335 spectators turned up for the match.
Dante Ambrogetti was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Nazım Ağıt and
Timoteo Urdiales.
Hapoel tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Alfieri - Łupiński, Ariel - Clos, Aceña, Zebunke, Savaş, Gliksman - den Hollander, Polak, Graps.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for M.u.t..
The following players took the field: Lyngstad - Schabel-Pittracher, Üftade, Schmunk, Wallis - Antuma, Pezzino, Stevanović, Biros - Miloševič, Marques Moreira.
The corner kick from
H. Graps was powerfully met by the head of
M. Clos to make the score 1 - 0.
Cheers filled the stadium as
B. Gliksman broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Hapoel.
Maybe due to the uphill battle the team was facing, the M.u.t. manager looked to change things around. After 18 minutes,
P. Pezzino and
G. Biros swapped positions on the field.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Hapoel's
D. Zebunke increasing the lead to 3 - 0.
Ater 32 minutes
G. Biros seized on an opportunistic attack from the right, and scored for M.u.t. making it 3 - 1.
H. Graps should probably have put his team up another goal after 33 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
J. Lyngstad kept the visitors in the game.
R. Antuma was in the clear after breaking the offside trap following a M.u.t. counterattack from the left after 34 minutes. His neat finish made the score 3 - 2.
37 minutes in, M.u.t.'s
R. Antuma received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 39 minute mark, M.u.t.'s
J. Lyngstad hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
A. Üftade got left behind when Hapoel's
D. den Hollander made a sudden run forward after 40 minutes, finishing off with a neat strike. 4 - 2!
With 41 minutes played, Hapoel put themselves up 5 - 2 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
D. Zebunke, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
After this, you could see that the players of Hapoel were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
5 - 2 was the halftime score.
Hapoel had most of the ball, with 67 percent of possession.
After 56 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
H. Graps might have resulted in another goal for Hapoel. However,
J. Lyngstad made a spectacular save.
Hapoel increased the lead as
D. Zebunke struck to make the score 6 - 2 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
D. Zebunke.
S. Wallis had a couple of good opportunities to reply, but the home team's keeper
A. Alfieri was simply unbeatable.
Hapoel's
F. Aceña increased the lead to 7 - 2, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 79 minutes.
Hapoel claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 68 percent.
B. Polak performed admirably for Hapoel.
P. Ariel on the other hand, had a terrible day.
M.u.t.'s top performer was clearly
G. Biros.
However,
D. Schabel-Pittracher made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 7 - 2.
