previous 9/10 next 1/10  Picarrou 1 - 2 Nullneuner (379918002)

Clear skies welcomed the 2004 spectators who had made their way to Picarrou Stadium. Benedykt Gorzelany was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Władysław Lew and José Carlos Echeverría. Picarrou decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Gaillard - Zhechev, Arroxo, Hickman - Mathé, Bellone, Jovanović, Diaw, Deshors - Dioh, Malleret.

Nullneuner had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Hurwitz - Skjærven, Benabdlakrim, Margalit - Pierre, Číp, Räinä, Amsalem, Tarrasón - Molano, Sabulskis.

Picarrou used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Nullneuner tried to focus their attacks down the middle. The referee showed Picarrou's S. Jovanović the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Some great play up the middle by Picarrou led to a chance for P. Deshors to score after 25 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. Picarrou players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Many thought D. Dioh ought to have been awarded a penalty 32 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around N. Hurwitz after a determined run through the middle. Nullneuner's G. Sabulskis got himself booked for a foul. The visiting I. Číp was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 37 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Nullneuner claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

V. Mathé showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 57 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away. The terraces were silenced after 85 minutes when Nullneuner's J. Tarrasón put the guests ahead 1 - 2, following an attack on the right. 87 minutes in, Nullneuner's R. Räinä received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Possession in this half belonged to Nullneuner, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

Most important Picarrou player was D. Dioh. On the other hand, S. Jovanović's play was disheartening. Nullneuner's best player was G. Sabulskis. J. Tarrasón was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
