(379940934)

06-06-2012 12.30
Dark skies made the crowd of 1882 at
El Barreru a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Manuel Sorarrain was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Robert Long and
Alexey Rakhmaninov.
Miengo had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation.
The following players took the field: Piedade - Menegon, Magariños Blanco, Delbart, Gordo, Lučan - Foncueva, Rojas, Markfort, Morlanes - Veen.
B&W DEVILS decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Zwettler - Nyhling, Kartio, Abraham - Cantrell, Willebrands, Valdehuérteles, Jastrowicz, Blonk - Lafferte, Vliegenthart.
B&W DEVILS saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
Miengo took the lead after 25 minutes as a result of
R. Veen's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0.
38 minutes into the game, Miengo seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
passable.
40 minutes in, Miengo's
P. Delbart received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
L. Vliegenthart's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for B&W DEVILS, he bravely continued in the match.
O. Lučan always provides an aerial threat at corners, and with 42 minutes gone, he demonstrated this, outjumping his marker, then letting out an anguished howl as his powerful header went narrowly wide.
B&W DEVILS's
A. Willebrands got himself booked for a foul.
1 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Miengo had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.
The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Miengo had
solid organisation.
The home side's
R. Veen came close to extending the lead 47 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
H. Zwettler managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
55 minutes into the game, Miengo seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
weak level of organisation.
With 57 minutes played,
J. Cantrell came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by B&W DEVILS.
With 58 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Miengo resulted in a counterattack that set
J. Gordo free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save.
The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 72 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but when
E. Lafferte tried to finish the attack, he couldn't deliver the shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, B&W DEVILS's
L. Vliegenthart was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 82 minutes.
G. Moller was given a chance to change things around.
With 84 minutes played, Miengo's
P. Delbart almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net.
88 minutes into the game, Miengo had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
weak.
After 88 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 1 - 1 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by
J. Kartio.
B&W DEVILS enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
Miengo's best player was
R. Markfort.
T. Rojas was a disappointment, however.
B&W DEVILS's top performer was clearly
E. Lafferte.
However,
W. Jastrowicz made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 1.
