previous 6/10 next 8/10  Playas28 1 - 3 CTU (380076415)

Dark skies made the crowd of 12000 at Santiago Benabernos a little nervous, but the rain held off. Dane Litrić was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kevin Canchucaja and Robby Bekaert. Playas28 decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Rovere - Goranov, Turtelboom, Chiriño - Sáez, Dziaduła, Mingo, Anglarill, İnce - Leiva, Westpfahl.

CTU had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. Lineup: Tienari - Jurnečka, Orgad - Vilalta, Palma, Blasch, Allesch, Drignat - Ramos Brugarolas, Monfort, Huirravoso.

Playas28 displayed their ability to play creatively. With 18 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. S. Huirravoso put the ball away for 0 - 1. M. Westpfahl of Playas28 received a yellow card after 19 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. 27 minutes into the match CTU's S. Huirravoso viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card. Unfortunately for Playas28, B. Turtelboom was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. P. Palou replaced him. After 30 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for S. Allesch who increased CTU's lead to 0 - 2. The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when E. Mingo scored after a brilliant midfield combination through the centre, reducing the lead to 1 - 2. M. Blasch of CTU took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 36 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 3. It was 1 - 3 at the break. Playas28 claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 65 percent.

E. Vilalta wanted to play on, but the CTU coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by E. Escolano. Content with how the game was proceeding, the CTU coach let V. Alanís replace R. Jurnečka after 50 minutes. The CTU players could smell victory in the air. E. Drignat wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for J. Esles after 62 minutes. E. Mingo almost reduced the deficit, having drawn the entire left side defence away, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. Possession in this half belonged to Playas28, who controlled the ball 66 percent of the time.

Playas28's best player was E. Mingo. J. Rovere turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important CTU player was R. Palma. J. Esles was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 3.
