Empordà 3 - 2 Warning
(380081868)

13-06-2012 12.30
Dark skies made the crowd of 16557 at
Salvador Dalí a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Edgardo Chávez was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ingemar Hilboezen and
Thankmar Bubeck.
Empordà decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Yakut - Scarperia, Mínguez Salas, Heikkinen - Tapia, Dalemans, Ziemilec, Mulrooney, Üren - Tycoon, Moncayo.
Warning had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation.
They fielded: Konijn - Toàn Quân, Pairault, Sukhoterin, Eguía - Aquiahuatl, Biedziec, Barbosa, Hijma, Kronbom - Van Booven.
Warning saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
A. Eguía was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was beautifully flicked on by
J. Van Booven, but the ball bounced off the post to safety.
The guests took the lead 13 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
K. Hijma scoring to make it 0 - 1.
Empordà's
E. Ziemilec left the field after 24 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
R. Scherer.
0 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Empordà had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.
Warning's
N. Biedziec got himself booked for a foul.
Empordà were forced into a substitution as
G. Tapia couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
I. Bursuk to come in off the bench.
E. Heikkinen showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 65 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away.
After the game, the most discussed event will probably be the penalty given after 86 minutes that gave the visitors the 1 - 2 lead. Despite the controversy,
J. Barbosa struck home the penalty, as cool as anything.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Eguía from Warning a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 87 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
After 88 minutes,
C. Moncayo made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 2 - 2.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Empordà, with 57 percent of the ball.
As neither team had managed to win, extra time was called.
When
N. Biedziec made yet another studs-first tackle after 97 minutes, the referee was obliged to book the Warning player for the second time, sending him off the pitch.
100 minutes in, Empordà's
K. Üren received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
After 102 minutes, the defensive line of Warning created a counterattack through the middle that gave
A. Eguía a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
K. Üren gave Empordà the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 3 - 2
Game over, Empordà win!
Most important Empordà player was
M. Mulrooney.
I. Bursuk on the other hand, had a terrible day.
A. Eguía performed admirably for Warning.
However,
K. Hijma made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 3 - 2.
