The 12000 spectators at Thunder Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Niklas Larsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Niclas Mathiasson and Utt Al-Aziz. Crljenac started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Starčević - Urošević, Panajotović, Jovović, Malbašić - Božić, Obrenović, Bajević, Atanacković - Dérfai, Damjanović.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Banjalucki. They fielded: Köhne - Iversen, Palonek, Dominech - Roschmann, Amidžić, Dündar, Matta, Nalepka - Schichau, Insurandiaga.

Banjalucki clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. Banjalucki's K. Iversen managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 2 minutes. 0 - 1. 12 minutes into the match, K. Schichau came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. Given a free kick close to the byline, Banjalucki tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let K. Schichau slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 0 - 2, 13 minutes into the game. After 22 minutes, Crljenac's M. Obrenović fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! With 29 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed S. Dündar of Banjalucki to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3. Some fine movement on the left led to a Banjalucki goal after 30 minutes, making it 0 - 4. K. Schichau was noted down as the scorer. Some things can only be learned through experience, and D. Panajotović should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Banjalucki a goal with 34 minutes of the match played. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 4. Banjalucki claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 83 percent.

After 53 minutes, Banjalucki's K. Schichau burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 5. At that, K. Schichau was noted down for a hat trick! At this point, it was obvious that the players of Banjalucki lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. K. Schichau of Banjalucki took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 66 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 6. P. Dominech wanted to play on, but the Banjalucki coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by S. Kocejić. R. Amidžić left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 70 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. P. Tešić was the replacement. 72 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 7 as P. Tešić finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. After 73 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave P. Tešić a chance to increase the lead for Banjalucki, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 8. The sunny day didn't make things easy for D. Malbašić who didn't seem his usual powerful self on the pitch. M. Starčević kept the home side in the game with a magnificent save when K. Nalepka delivered an almost perfect free kick to the far post. The Banjalucki players could smell victory in the air. P. Insurandiaga wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for K. Stefanović after 77 minutes. The referee showed Banjalucki's T. Roschmann the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Banjalucki had most of the ball, with 85 percent of possession.

Crljenac's best player was M. Damjanović. M. Starčević on the other hand, had a terrible day. S. Dündar performed admirably for Banjalucki. R. Köhne was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 8.
