Ferial sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from A. Mangindaan after 5 minutes of play, making the score 0 - 2. A. Ferial fired a shot from distance after 12 minutes, but the long shot couldn't find the net for Srivijaya. After 13 minutes Srivijaya's M. Tassotti limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Srivijaya increased their lead after 15 minutes when M. von Mossner broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay. Confident in their lead, Srivijaya's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. 29 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 4 as T. Azis finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. 38 minutes into the match, the speedy M. von Mossner easily outpaced I. Marbun, chipped the keeper and made the score 0 - 5. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 5. Possession in this half belonged to Srivijaya, who controlled the ball 93 percent of the time.

The visitors' A. Mangindaan took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 52 minutes into the match. 0 - 6 for Srivijaya. After 64 minutes, Srivijaya's A. Ferial burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 7. By then A. Ferial had scored three goals - a hat trick! Riau's S. Nurdiansyah had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 66 minutes having been played. J. Marwood was the replacement. S. Jakelis was, after 72 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper J. Marwood made the save. The home crowd was not impressed when A. Iranda came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 79 minutes. Srivijaya were now up 0 - 8. Some fine movement on the left led to a Srivijaya goal after 82 minutes, making it 0 - 9. A. Ferial was noted down as the scorer. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Srivijaya, with 94 percent of the ball.

Riau's best player was L. Nere. C. Mahmud on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Srivijaya player was without a doubt T. Antares. O. Sumpena turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 9.
