previous 6/10 next 8/10  Montrabe 3 - 4 Audi RS (380332470)

The 12000 fans in attendance at Montrabe Stadium were roasting in the hot sun. Oriol Alzamendi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Frank Luijkx and Seppl Aufsess. Montrabe had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: 爍侖 (Shuolun) - Barbosa, Federico, Zerbini - Loury, Kliewer, Rodskog, Solowski, Jansson - Clément, Ditz.

Audi RS started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. The following players took the field: Sajur - Mantenuto, Šašek, Orazi - Turunen, Vrettakos, Bergeon, Perrier - Animobono, Marti, Grandpierre.

Audi RS tried to focus their attacks down the middle. Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile A. Zerbini. After 12 minutes Audi RS's M. Mantenuto limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. 0 - 1 was the score with 22 minutes played, after C. Orazi cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Audi RS. Montrabe's S. Solowski was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 33 minutes. The visitors' R. Grandpierre took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 35 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Audi RS. J. Turunen's speed is always a threat when he gets a little room to move, and 37 minutes into the match was no different as he broke free of his man to send a delightful through ball to O. Animobono who knocked it in for Audi RS. 0 - 3! Confident in their lead, Audi RS's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. S. Jansson made one of his many fine passes from the wing into the middle 40 minutes into the match. D. Clément bravely attempted to execute a diving header and the ball was met firmly with his forehead for Montrabe. 1 - 3. Montrabe supporters cheered as good work down the right got the ball to D. Clément who reduced the visitors' lead after 41 minutes to 2 - 3. Halftime score was 2 - 3. Audi RS had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

The Audi RS players could smell victory in the air. O. Animobono wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for I. Lindstrøm after 46 minutes. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, M. Mantenuto took over the role of being the Audi RS captain. The coach of Audi RS was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes, A. Vuillet came on for P. Marti. R. Grandpierre left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 46 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. P. Barrón was the replacement. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from A. Vuillet after 49 minutes, and prevented Audi RS from going up another goal. 60 minutes in, and Montrabe were able to score the equalising goal to make it 3 - 3 when M. Rodskog picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper. J. Turunen found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave P. Barrón from Audi RS a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 67 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Audi RS players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. After 71 minutes, Audi RS's I. Lindstrøm made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 3 - 4. With the scoreboard showing that 77 minutes had been played, Audi RS nearly put themselves up another goal after C. Orazi came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Audi RS, with 55 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Montrabe player was without a doubt G. Ditz. S. Jansson was a disappointment, however. Most important Audi RS player was A. Vuillet. I. Lindstrøm turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 4.
