Dark skies made the crowd of 20716 at Sirenc a little nervous, but the rain held off. Johan de Heer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Javier Mendía and Stu Wolak. Siren had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. The following players had been chosen: Pini - Kertesz, Sułkowski, Reina, de Gerlache - Guidorzi, Ménard, Yanous, Zalaeta, Pereira Rocha - Mehtonen.

R.L. started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. Lineup: Carneiro Silva - Serra, Graulund, Biscarini - Basarić, Stefanek, Makselon, Cretu - Tecco, Stoica, Dondajewski.

Siren were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. The most controversial moment of the game was likely the penalty given after 2 minutes. R.L.'s M. Makselon kept his concentration, despite the upset crowd, and calmly put the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave T. Guidorzi from Siren a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 27 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! After 39 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave R. Dondajewski a chance to increase the lead for R.L., and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2. The players of R.L. now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. R.L.'s J. Serra got himself booked for a foul. B. Pereira Rocha's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Siren, he bravely continued in the match. M. Makselon could have put his team up another goal 42 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. 44 minutes in, R.L.'s F. Biscarini received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. With 44 minutes played, R. Dondajewski nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. F. Biscarini received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 44 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 3. The R.L. fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. 0 - 3 was the halftime score. R.L. had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.

B. Pereira Rocha of Siren was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. With 61 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed M. Tecco of R.L. to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 4. Siren's I. Yanous was shown a yellow card after 66 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The R.L. players could smell victory in the air. F. Stefanek wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for W. Pieper after 70 minutes. M. Makselon came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over T. Pini but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. After 81 minutes, R.L.'s M. Makselon burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 5. A. Caldeira was called on to replace R.L.'s Z. Basarić after 84 minutes following a nasty collision. After 87 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed M. Tecco to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 6. R.L. enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.

Most important Siren player was A. Mehtonen. However, G. de Gerlache made a disastrous appearance. R.L.'s top performer was clearly M. Makselon. F. Carneiro Silva was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 6.
