previous 1/10 next 3/10  Limerick 0 - 9 RFC Bruges (380411282)

Clear skies welcomed the 7000 spectators who had made their way to Limerick Park. Jean Gelly was the appointed referee with assistance provided by John Bailey and Evaristo Cotón. Limerick had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Lineup: Taaffe - Cuif, Huzzard, Arbuckle, Caine - O'Dwyer, Gallivan, Moriarty, O'Rourke - Tobin, Austin.

RFC Bruges decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. They fielded: Ganchaegu - Sarıgöz, Lennon - Papp, Gastal, 加藤 (Kato), Thorsen, Lemon - Veretinskas, Bell, Ellebracht.

8 minutes into the match, the speedy A. Ellebracht easily outpaced V. Arbuckle, chipped the keeper and made the score 0 - 1. With 9 minutes played, RFC Bruges's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to A. Ellebracht he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 0 - 2. A. Ellebracht received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 31 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 3. The RFC Bruges fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for A. Ellebracht. A. Veretinskas increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 4. After this, you could see that the players of RFC Bruges were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. After 34 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave B. Gastal a chance to increase the lead for RFC Bruges, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 5. C. Caine of Limerick received a yellow card after 38 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The visitors' A. Ellebracht took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 39 minutes into the match. 0 - 6 for RFC Bruges. 0 - 6 was the halftime score. B. Gastal wanted to play on, but the RFC Bruges coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by G. Schintler. F. Sarıgöz left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 46 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. M. Vargiu was the replacement. E. Bell became the new RFC Bruges captain. The coach of RFC Bruges was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes, M. Gustavsson came on for 達. 加藤 (Kato). After 47 minutes, the RFC Bruges players received new instructions from their manager on how to keep in control of the game. With 51 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed A. Veretinskas of RFC Bruges to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 7. A drive down the left side allowed T. Lemon to get in close and score another goal for RFC Bruges after 55 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 8. RFC Bruges's A. Veretinskas got himself booked for a foul. After 62 minutes, RFC Bruges's A. Papp burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 9. T. Lemon looked to be heading one way when he unexpectedly passed the ball to A. Papp. The move caught everyone off-guard, including his teammate, who panicked and kicked the ball out of play by accident. Possession in this half belonged to RFC Bruges, who controlled the ball 80 percent of the time.

L. Austin performed admirably for Limerick. M. Taaffe turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating RFC Bruges player was without a doubt A. Veretinskas. M. Gustavsson on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 9.
