The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 10878 had shown up at El Monumental Arena for the match. Dark saw most attack opportunities on the wings. U.C decided to play creatively. Dark created a good opportunity to score 6 minutes into the match when H. Paz's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. U.C's E. Reinaga gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 7 minutes with a superb strike from the right. Dark had to make a substitution after 12 minutes. G. Jiménez limped off the field and was replaced by C. Ponce. Just a few inches to the right, and the visitors could have had a goal 35 minutes into the match. J. Farne surely wishes he could do that free kick over again. After 42 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by U.C was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options. Attacking on the wings was the choice for Dark, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. C. Lévron was in the clear after breaking the offside trap following a Dark counterattack from the left after 44 minutes. His neat finish made the score 1 - 1. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by U.C, with 62 percent of the ball.

A well placed corner kick from H. Paz was followed by A. Di Carlo's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Dark, the score now 2 - 1. Dark's H. Paz struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 3 - 1 after 49 minutes. U.C needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 52 minutes P. Gorigoytía made way for B. Paulick. With 60 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, U.C showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 3 - 2 when E. Reinaga got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. After 62 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 3 - 3 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by E. Reinaga. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for E. Reinaga. 65 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a U.C substitution. G. Lopez Devito came on for A. Petsanas. A. Wörz caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 65 minutes. This gave Dark the 4 - 3 lead. After 65 minutes, U.C switched T. Lillo with R. Picollo, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. With the scoreboard clock showing 81 minutes, the inexperienced Dark team fell into disarray. U.C levelled the score after 85 minutes to make it 4 - 4, as D. Ibarluce struck home after a fine midfield combination through the centre, which left him completely unmarked. 86 minutes in, U.C's B. Paulick received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Possession in this half belonged to U.C, who controlled the ball 66 percent of the time.

As neither team was able to break the deadlock before the end of regular play, the teams took to the field again for extra time. Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Dark was able to get his message across, and raised Dark's organisation to solid. Down the middle came B. Paulick, making a fantastic play that nearly had U.C take the lead after 94 minutes, but A. Warraq preserved the tie. After 107 minutes, the visitors nearly went up a goal, but J. Farne's free kick hit the crossbar. With 114 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. R. Siegfried put the ball away for 4 - 5. This put an end to extra time, making U.C the winners. The most dominating Dark player was without a doubt A. Ayacán. C. Ponce on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important U.C player was B. Paulick. F. San Martin was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 5.
