previous 5/10 next 7/10  STONE 0 - 1 embalse (380484845)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 23553 had shown up at POTRERO for the match. Mohd Hussein bin Hassan was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Nicola Modenesi and Dalibor Bakić. STONE had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Eylon - Kamposis, Gorla, Holland - Laje, Vale, Damásio, Jepson, Gradín - das Neves, Jacquin.

embalse decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Adolfsson - Hanus, Vukovic, Vossaert - Scaloni, Guebide, Leo, Valdevielso, Sandoval - Vikblom, Stężała.

embalse mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. V. Sandoval came close to putting the visiting team one up 20 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but A. Eylon managed to tip the ball to a corner. embalse's R. Vikblom was shown a yellow card after 21 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The referee showed STONE's S. Jepson the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. embalse claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

embalse players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. A. Eylon looked great 51 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' R. Vikblom. After 58 minutes, embalse's L. Scaloni made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for embalse, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. 74 minutes into the game, D. das Neves had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came S. Bauer. The bench was restless, and with 75 minutes passed STONE's coach gave G. Spada the opportunity the player had been hoping for. A. Gorla reluctantly left the field. Still trailing on the score board, STONE adjusted their tactics after 76 minutes. G. Spada had a quick chat at the side line, then switched positions with D. Holland. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave P. Stężała from embalse a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 76 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! STONE were forced into a substitution as B. Laje couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing H. Holland to come in off the bench. embalse had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

Most important STONE player was J. Damásio. A. Eylon on the other hand, had a terrible day. embalse's best player was J. Leo. W. Vossaert turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 1.
