Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 12000 at
Sarang Semut Arena today.
Clemens Biesterveld was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Kamil Przygocki and
Klausdieter Schanda.
Karawang tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
They fielded: Surbakti - Zein, Alfaridzi, Rachmad, Bukhori - Morhan, Roekanda, Kuncahyo, Siagian - Isdiantono, Pelawi.
GasKan started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Tkachenko - Vanslembrouck, Janković, Andreoli, Alzamora - Bernhardt, 秉朋 (Bingpeng) , Citti, Ahomaa - Schmidt-Pauli, Corral.
After 10 minutes, GasKan's
M. Vanslembrouck made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1.
After the ball was lifted in from the left,
N. Schmidt-Pauli was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 27 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
R. Bernhardt received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 28 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The GasKan fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
After 33 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
S. Corral a chance to increase the lead for GasKan, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of GasKan lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
The visitors'
S. Corral took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 34 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for GasKan.
Halftime score was 0 - 4.
GasKan had most of the ball, with 85 percent of possession.
After 48 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
N. Schmidt-Pauli who increased GasKan's lead to 0 - 5.
Karawang had to make a substitution after 61 minutes.
L. Isdiantono limped off the field and was replaced by
U. Rully.
The home crowd was not impressed when
N. Schmidt-Pauli came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 62 minutes. GasKan were now up 0 - 6.
After 70 minutes of game time,
J. Ahomaa had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
A. Surbakti was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
M. Vanslembrouck got himself booked. The manager of GasKan was not happy.
Karawang's
J. Siagian refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 78 minutes.
After 79 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
R. Andreoli to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 7.
S. Corral of GasKan took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 83 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 8.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
S. Corral.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by GasKan, with 87 percent of the ball.
Karawang's top performer was clearly
J. Siagian.
A. Roekanda turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important GasKan player was
S. Corral.
K. Janković was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 0 - 8.
