04-08-2012 09.00
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 32212 to
Strawberry Field.
Rene Danninger was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Cristian 'Il Cattivo' Razzi and
Manuel García.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Rubber.
The following players took the field: Feldthaus - Giezen, Becque, Caro - Cosini, Henriksson, Jarvis, Schiffmann, Gruyer - Enevoldsen, McPhee.
Milano had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Lineup: Birgersson - Suryoadmojo, Mannerheim, Ramang - Breibert, Gamboa, Granyena, Berndahl, Salerno - Villanueva, Holloway.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Rubber.
It was an obvious ambition of Milano to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
Rubber could have put themselves ahead after 29 minutes but
M. Caro missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right.
At 31 minutes played,
T. Enevoldsen came in from the right with the intention of giving Rubber the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
Rubber made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
W. McPhee completely alone with keeper
J. Birgersson, who made a spectacular block.
R. Villanueva was in the clear after breaking the offside trap following a Milano counterattack from the left after 34 minutes. His neat finish made the score 0 - 1.
0 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Rubber enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.
After 59 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
R. Villanueva to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 2.
Rubber needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 77 minutes
M. Cosini made way for
B. Aschieri.
After 77 minutes
L. Salerno made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to
R. Villanueva who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 0 - 3.
This third goal completed a hattrick for
R. Villanueva.
The bench was restless, and with 80 minutes passed Rubber's coach gave
E. Vandewalle the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
T. Enevoldsen reluctantly left the field.
With 82 minutes played, the Rubber coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
V. Paralikas came on,
S. Henriksson had to leave the fray.
Possession in this half belonged to Rubber, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.
Most important Rubber player was
V. Paralikas.
However,
R. Feldthaus made a disastrous appearance.
Milano's top performer was clearly
R. Villanueva.
F. Mannerheim turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 3.
