Clear skies welcomed the 32676 spectators who had made their way to Guimaraes. Ignacio Pinillos was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Raymond van Doesselaar and Lars Kongaa. That's the spirit! G. Arşinel rose like a salmon, and was very close to scoring with a header after a corner, but sent the ball just over the bar. Slack defending gave Mosoiu a chance to take the lead with 39 minutes played, but G. Arşinel's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. 41 minutes into the game, G. Nunweiller was a hair's breadth away from giving SILVA the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by O. Bolliger saved the home team that time. SILVA's T. Ghera left the field after 43 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was D. Behemhöfen. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. SILVA claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

V. Silveşan of Mosoiu received a yellow card after 50 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. 60 minutes into the game, SILVA wanted to bring some new energy to their game. F. Sabãu gave I. Sas a quick hug as he left the field. A. Dumitrescu was handed the SILVA captain's armband. 65 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Mosoiu substitution. R. Hauter came on for N. Zlotea. After some beautiful movement down the left wing, G. Arşinel scored for Mosoiu putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 79 minutes. After 88 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 1 - 1 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by A. Dumitrescu. SILVA's A. Dumitrescu managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 88 minutes. 1 - 2. Mosoiu enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

Mosoiu's best player was A. Chitic. V. Silveşan turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important SILVA player was A. Dumitrescu. On the other hand, D. Behemhöfen's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 2.
