Clouds darkened the skies at
CENTRAL Arena as 42191 spectators turned up for the match.
Carl Lewis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Reno Wangenheim and
Jorge Salazar.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
Bucureşti derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
F.A. tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
Starters: Sieradz - Iatan, Gantner - Giesinger, Martelli, Bigus, Curcă, Patrício - van der Leur, Varski, Otáhal.
F.C. had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Smoroń - Galfrè, Gilyán, Buzaglo - Winderl, Bárány, Unchieş, Stan, Mocanu - Gordić, Candido.
F.A. took the lead 11 minutes in, as
G. Martelli broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 13 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but when
G. Candido tried to finish the attack, he couldn't deliver the shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper.
15 minutes in, F.C. 's
S. Unchieş received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
With 20 minutes played,
F. Gantner of F.A. fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
F.A.'s
J. Varski was shown a yellow card after 22 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
A. Patrício's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
J. Varski was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for F.A.. 2 - 0.
Confident in their lead, F.A.'s players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
It was 2 - 0 at the break.
F.A. had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.
S. Buzaglo had a couple of good opportunities to reply, but the home team's keeper
S. Sieradz was simply unbeatable.
70 minutes in, an amazing pass from the left side resulted in a goal for the visitors, as
M. Galfrè anticipated the through ball and scored, reducing the deficit to 2 - 1.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in F.A.'s
O. Curcă increasing the lead to 3 - 1.
F.C. fought on and, after 72 minutes,
G. Candido was able to reduce the deficit to 3 - 2 after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip.
The referee showed F.A.'s
A. Patrício the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, F.C. 's
S. Unchieş was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 77 minutes.
Z. Froch was given a chance to change things around.
R. Stan became the new F.C. captain.
F.C. claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
F.A.'s best player was
J. Varski.
C. Iatan was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating F.C. player was without a doubt
G. Candido.
J. Smoroń on the other hand, had a terrible day.
